in beautiful, rural Huron Township! Our active and supportive school family consists of 470 students, 50 staff members, and hundreds of parents and community members. A sign on our school, that greets all visitors, reads, “Welcome to Brown Elementary School, Great Kids, Great Staff, Great Parents, Great Place!”  We strive to promote student academic and behavioral success by employing a wide variety of effective teaching strategies and educational programs and through the use of a school-wide, incentive-based behavioral management policy known as Positive Behavior Support (PBS). The cornerstones of our PBS initiative are that all members of our school family will act in a safe, respectful, and responsible manner at all times at school. We provide myriad positive reinforcements for students exhibiting these expectations. On the academic front we are very proud of the improvements we have made in standardized and teacher-created assessments over the past 10 years (we won a Michigan Golden Apple Award for dramatic MEAP score improvement in 2001). Our building underwent major improvements/additions in 2001-2002 and is now a state-of-the-art facility.
